From Here to Eternity, the Gospel of Michael Rood's False Prophecy

Michael Rood predicted World War would take place in 2001 in these words:

"It is now the year 6000 and it is just a few months from Tishri 1 of 6001 which will begin the seventh or Sabbath millennium, the Day or the Millennium of the Lord. The United States is now being embroiled in its initial stages of what will become World War III. Russia is moving into position, the Arabs are making their threats, and Israel is standing by for what will probably be a preemptive strike. That is going to throw the world into a tailspin....

"It would be nice to continue thinking that everything was going to be peace and prosperity in America and for that reason many have not wanted to listen to what the Messiah says he wants his servants to be aware of.... in the coming months and years of turmoil to get this (message) to as any people as possible....

He has detailed in His word the things that he wants his servants to know...and cast off the lies and the platitudes that have been performed from the pulpits of America and come to grips with the realities that will be upon the earth very soon. The book of Revelation is given that his servants will not be misled and will not be deceived by those who have prophesied in the name of the Lord....

"The warning that goes to America is specific as to what must come to pass and what is going to be affecting our lives.... I will see you when the smoke clears." (From Here to Eternity, the Gospel of Revelation Exposes the New World Order, M Rood, Side 1, Introduction)

Rood then directed people to his "Countdown to the Seventh Millennium" web site www.6001.com The web site spun this yarn even further, imagining a nuclear war he called "Zechariah's Thermonuclear War" (the home page of the site sported a fantastic picture of a nuclear explosion). Rood insisted that Zechariah's vision of a woman in a lead-covered basket was actually a nuclear SCUD missile which would begin worldwide nuclear war in 2001. He emphasized that this was not his speculation, but a clear prophecy from YHWH.

Rood clearly predicted in the name of the Lord that World War III and the new world order was to begin in September 2001. He insisted he was telling the truth, and everyone who disagreed with him was being misled and deceived by pulpits of America. But World War III, world catastrophe and the destruction of America did not occur as he predicted, and Rood, not churches, misled and deceived people. What does Torah have to say about those who predict things that do not happen?
Deuteronomy 18:20 (YHWH said) "But the prophet, which shall presume to speak a word in my name, which I have not commanded him to speak, or that shall speak in the name of other gods, even that prophet shall die. 21 And if you say in your heart, How shall we know the word which the LORD has not spoken? 22 When a prophet speaks in the name of the LORD, if the thing follow not, nor come to pass, that is the thing which the LORD has not spoken, but the prophet has spoken it presumptuously: you shalt not be afraid of him."

Although the title From Here to Eternity, the Gospel of Revelation Exposes the New World Order tape series sounds like it is a thorough teaching of Revelation, it actually has very little of Revelation or any of the Bible in it. It is primarily Rood spinning long yarns about world events, conspiracy theory (like the Trilateral Commission), world politics and stories about John the Baptizer from the patently unbiblical religious writing the Protoevangelion. The fiction makes his story all the more exciting to many hearers. But it is wiser to follow the Torah's command regarding one who predicts falsely- don't listen to him.
