Synopsis:

Set In London.

It's the eve of Jack's wedding when Michael gets a call from Pollard saying he wants to meet Jack. Michael tells Pollard he will meet him instead. Michael drops Jack off at his place. Michael and Jack are both police detectives.

Michael arrives to meet Pollard only to find him murdered. Michael chases suspect into train station. Michael tries to search for him using the station cameras, but although we the TV viewer can see the suspect standing on the platform the cameras cannot. Michael drops by to see Jack's girlfriend on the way home. What he does not know is Jack has gone out and has met up with the suspect who killed Pollard.

It's the time of the wedding has come and Jack has gone missing. Michael is told C.I.B has arrived to investigate. This is when we are introduced to Angie (Susannah Harker) and Vaughan (Idris Elba). Michael Tells Jack's girlfriend Kirsty that he will find out what happened to him.

Michael is looking out of the window of his flat and notices he is being watched. When out of no where Jack appears. Jack tells Michael to lose them. They drive off together. Jack tells Michael someone is trying to kill him. He tells Michael it's the CIB and he wants Michael to find out who is in charge, then meet him the next day.

Michael checks out Vaughan and Angie and finds out they are not C.I.B. Vaughan tells Michael Jack is on the take and that he is using him. Michael grabs him by the shirt and notices a mark on Vaughan's neck.

Michael finds a witness who can draw a picture of the suspect who killed Pollard. He is able to trace the Killer. Michael goes to the killer's place when a special unit charges in and kills the suspect. Michael jumps through a window into a river taking with him a special gun he has found.

Michael follows Angie to try and find out who they really are. She leads him to a church. He goes in only to be followed by Vaughan who tells him not to give up his day job.

Michael then shows up in a room with his hands cuffed behind his back. The door opens. Angie and a man (Philip Quest) Michael has not met walk in. He asks Michael Does he know where Jack is and what they are dealing with. He tells Michael `THEY` can make you believe. Only `THEY` can do that. He also tells Michael if he survives the experience they will talk again. Michael asks the man (Philip Quast) who should he ask for. The man smiles. "I'm sure Jack and his friends are very interested", then leaves.

Michael tries to taunt Vaughan and is succeeding until Angie comes in and tells Vaughan to get rid of him. Michael is dumped on the street.

Michael loads the special gun and goes to meet Jack. He points the gun at him. Jack admits he was on the take and what he has become. Jack tells Michael that Vaughan and his friends are run by the church and are the inquisition. Jack taunts Michael. Michael shoots him, but he is not dead. They fight and Jack bites Michael. Jack is killed. Michael returns to the church for answers but cannot go in. He then returns to the place where he killed Jack.

Michael returns to his office and tells Vaughan and Angie where they can pick up Jack. Angie treats Jack. Michael enters a room only to find the man (Philip Quast) sitting there. Michael says Thanks Father but I already have a job. The man says, You are happy were you are after what you have seen. Michael says Sorry I don't think I've got what it takes. The man (Philip Quast) replies with, I heard you did. Michael says it was self defense not a career move. (Philip Quast) tells Michael he needs people like him but Michael responds by telling (Philip Quast) he doesn't need people like him.

(Philip Quast) shows Michael the installation and finds out it is the Government that is paying. Angie tells Michael they have all lost someone and (Philip Quast) tells him this job is a vocation. He tells Michael `THEY` don't want to kill them only to control them.

Michael goes and sees Kirsty and tells her Jack has gone and was on the take and that Jack said he was sorry. We then see Jack back in the installation putting Jack's wedding ring in the canister with Jack indicating that he has joined the squad.

Review:

This is a compelling episode. Atmosphere dark and mysterious. Views are just kept just ahead of are poor hero. There are twists and turns here and there. Even at the end of the episode you are still not sure who the good guys are. Also you are still left not knowing what is the name of the squad and its mysterious Leader. Philip Quast performance was splendid his character full of mystery and likely to keep you on your toes and has a smile that makes you wary.
