19 December 1999
It's getting close to the New Year, so that means we need a brand new Philip Quast Calendar! So, we now present the Y2K Philip Quast Calendar! Many thanks to Angela for putting this together!

1 December 1999
As promised, we've added a page on the new Sydney production of The White Devil. Enjoy! There's more to come!

27 November 1999
Exclusive! Our Australian correspondent Liz has provided us with an exciting first look at the advance flyer for Philip's new play, PAN. Further details as they become available, so stay tuned!

We've also added a new section, The Useful Box. This will be for all those 'odds and ends' that don't fit anywhere else, like our yearly Calendar, an archive of the Holiday front pages (if you just must see Philip as a werewolf one more time!(g), and the Greeting Card form. We want this to be a 'fun' section, so if you have suggestions, we'd love to hear them!

24 Novemer 1999
Happy Thanksgiving everyone! Okay, I know our friends overseas don't celebrate this one, but everyone has something to be thankful for, so I'm making you all honorary Yanks for the day!(g)

There's a lot of new things to look at this time, so let's get started. First, I suppose you noticed the 'holiday' front page.(g) This is becoming something of a tradition, so look out Christmas!!

Next, we have all new photos for you from Cassidy, and plenty of them. Thanks to Angela for her mastery of the screen capture!

Next, there are some wonderful new images from The Governor. I think you'll see the major improvement in quality here - again thanks to Angela's expertise.

Finally, please welcome Elizabeth as the newest member of the 'team' here, and our Australian correspondent! Her work is very much appreciated!!

So, enjoy, have a wonderful, wonderful Thanksgiving, and we'll see you on the Forum!

22 October 1999
This is my favorite time of the year, and in celebration of Halloween, we've decorated the Continuum! (Not to worry, we'll be back to normal in November!(g) (Oh, and yes, that *is* Philip under the werewolf fur!!

Now for the new stuff. There's a section devoted to one of Philip's lesser roles in Emoh Ruo. Check it out - Philip in a beard(g). And of course, more coming soon!

22 September 1999
Exclusive first look at Philip's new publicity photo! You've seen a small version of it on the opening page, but if you'd like to see it full sized, click here. I think you'll agree this is one incredible photo!

12 September 1999 Angela has completely refurbished the 'Police Rescue' section, including a synopsis and review, as well as some wonderful new pics and sound files!

22 August 1999
Something lighthearted and fun for these warm summer days! All new images, and now sound files, from Playschool! Come along on our Bear Hunt, where you may just find some little speckled frogs, a hairy, scary bear, a black cat, and a..pig?! Start on the Playschool page, then go to the Gallery! 18 July 1999
A real mixed bag this time! First, a new look at the Night of 1000 Voices concert, written by Phil Cole, one of the performers who provided such excellent backup to Philip and the other stars. You'll find it on page 2 of the 1000 Voices page.

Next, we've added a 'Scrapbook' for photos that don't really go anywhere else, but are too good not to share. You can access it from the Articles & Interviews page, or right here

Finally, a new addition to the Television section. A rare look at one of Philip's early roles on tv, in the Australian soap opera The Young Doctors

8 July 1999
This was supposed to have been premiered on the 4th of July! But, better late than never, so here it is - Angela's comprehensive synopsis of all the 'Harvey McHugh' episodes! There are also some all new photos to enjoy. Hope you like it - and my apologies for the delay!

19 June 1999
Just added, several new screen captures from 'Cleopatra', as well as a selection of sound clips! Have also been preparing your '4th of July treat', so stay tuned!

14 June 1999
Yet another wonderful article about Philip, this one from Studio Collections Magazine. It dates from 1988, and is a fascinating look at what Philip was all about in those days. The accompanying photo is marvelous! A big thanks to Elizabeth for this gem!

1 June 1999
The article to accompany that magnificent photo of Phil is now up! You can read it here. 24 May 1999
The Cleopatra Gallery is now up. Our own SeriousJane worked tirelessly into the night to get us these screen captures, proving once again the resourcefullness of Quasties! Good work, Jane!

21 May 1999
A new article on The Damnation of Harvey McHugh. Interesting look at the politics of a television series, contributed by Elizabeth. (Thanks Elizabeth!)

2 May 1999
Soon, first images from the Night of 1000 Voices Concert! Check its page often!

25 April 1999
Just added, 11 sound files from the Inspector Morse episode, The Wench is Dead. Also, a small but very nice new image of Philip from The Hunting of the Snark. Enjoy!

18 April 1999
First, I'd like to make it 'official' by letting everyone know that Angela Pollard is now my partner in crime - er, this page!(g) God forbid, if I ever got hit by a truck or something (and Dr. Benfield wasn't handy to save me), she would assume ownership of the Continuum. So, welcome to the madness Angela!(g)

There are a few other changes, one of which you may have noticed getting here. I've moved the Greeting Card feature to the front page, and eliminated the 'Bazaar' altogether. The latter was a mutual decision on our part, because we've had reservations about it from the start and finally concluded it was best not to risk straying into any 'gray' areas that were a possible violation of copyright infringement. All of the sources of our material have been very good about permitting the use of images, etc. (a BIG 'Thank You!' to Cameron Mackintosh and World Productions especially!) and we want to preserve that respectful relationship.

Last, but not least, we've added a whole new bunch of sound files for your enjoyment. The first are from 'Napoleon', and the others are from 'To Market, To Market'. Enjoy!

17 April 1999
The countdown has started! Just a little more than 2 weeks before the Night of 1000 Voices! There's a page up and ready for all the information and photos as they become available, though we just have the poster there now. Go here to see it.

I've posted the revised chat time schedule, but still need some info. Check the chat info page. If anyone can provide me with the equivalent times for Australia and Germany, write me and I'll get them up!

12 April 1999
Just added, two reviews and several photos from To Market, To Market. Many thanks to Angela for her usual exellent work!!

11 April 1999
Lots of new things have been added! There's a new page on Napoleon, with pictures of 2 different movie posters, and one of the character Philip provides the voice for. Second, a new article on Troilus & Cressida has been added, as well as two new transcripts from television Interviews Philip did. There is also an article and new photo on Sunday in the Park with George, a new page with articles and photos from MacBeth, and finally, a new sound clip, this time from Police Rescue. Enjoy!

28 March 1999
Finally, more information on a few of Philip's older plays. I've updated the sections on Love's Labours Lost, The White Devil, and A Christmas Carol. Some include new photos in addition to the reviews.

18 March 1999
Just added, a photo section of Philip's appearance on 'Hey Mr. Producer'. Once again Angela has done a superlative job of capturing some wonderful images for us!

7 March 1999
Wow! Lots of new things to report! First, there are a bunch of new sound files to listen to. The first batch are from Brides of Christ, and the others are of The Governor. I've also added some new pics to Brides of Christ.

Second, by popular request, there is now a 'Classifieds' section for Quast fans to trade with other fans! You'll find the link on the opening page. Have fun!

1 March 1999
It's been a while since I've written an update, but I haven't been idle. As you'll have noticed, there's a whole new look to the front page - it's a new year, and it seemed the right time to 'redecorate' again.(g) Hope you like it! I think it's kinda classy, like Philip himself!

Thanks to the sharp eye - er, ear! - of our own SeriousJane, a 'glitch' in the sound files for episode of 2 of Ultraviolet was caught, and has now been corrected. There are also several new sound files for this episode, making a total of 17.

Coming soon: sound files from The Governor, and Brides of Christ!

30 January 1999
Express yourself! Just added, the Philip Quast Voting Booth, and our first question for you to vote on. This one's pretty basic, so I'd like to hear from YOU with other questions you'd like to see! Have fun!

Second, the Police Rescue gallery has been updated with new photos. Some are familiar shots, but much better quality.

16 January 1999
At long last, I've added the sound files from Episode 6 of 'Ultraviolet'! (Whew!) There's a baker's dozen to listen to, and you'll find them here.

Oh, and Happy New Year, everyone!

19 December 1998
Here we are, approaching another new year! Where has the time gone? It seems like only yesterday the Continuum was 'born', and now we're celebrating our second Christmas!

1998 has been an eventful year, here in the States, and abroad. There's an old Chinese curse that says 'May you live in interesting times', and we're certainly doing that! Let's hope that 1999 is a more peaceful, settled time, and that it treats us all kindly.

Well, it's finally finished! The new 1999 Philip Quast Calendar is now up. This one was inspired by 'Ultraviolet', and I hope you like it! As ever, enjoy - and Happy Holidays to everyone!

15 November 1998
Two new articles on Ultraviolet added, along with accompanying photos. One really nice shot of Pearse(Philip) examining a vampire! Again, we owe a debt of thanks to Angela for searching out these articles!

I've also added a page of Links to other Ultraviolet websites. Check them out. Not a lot about Philip specifically, but some excellent photo galleries and other unique features.

13 November 1998
Photos and synopsis of the Inspector Morse episode 'The Wench is Dead' now up. Although brief, it looks as if Philip's role was a memorable one - as usual!

24 October 1998
Photos and synopsis from the final episode of 'Ulraviolet', 'Persona Non Grata', are now up - and I am very relieved to report that Philip's character, Pearse, survived!! (And no, he didn't become a vampire, either!)

I've recently learned that the production company responsible for 'Ultraviolet', World Productions, now has a website, and was very pleased to note their 'fan friendly' policy. It is a sad commentary on the thinking of companies here in the States that they've come to regard fan sites as a 'threat' to their property and in some well-publicized instances have shut down fan pages, (most notably X-Files websites), so it is very refreshing to encounter their opposites in sensible people like those at World Productions.

If you'd like to thank them for making 'Ultraviolet' (and add a wish for a sequel, with Philip of course!!), please visit the World Productions website. They have a nice section on 'Ultraviolet', as well as their other shows, and plan to add more in the future.

21 October 1998
Sound clips from 'Terra Incognita' have been added. Photos and sound clips from the last episode coming soon!

18 October 1998
Sound clips added from episode four, 'Mea Culpa'.

14 October 1998
Photos and synopsis from episode five of 'Ultraviolet', 'Terra Incognita', are now up, with sound clips coming soon.

11 October 1998
Photos and synopsis from episode 4 of 'Ultraviolet' are now up. Wow!! While I'm looking forward to seeing the series, I admit I'm a bit of a wimp when it comes to Philip's characters being endangered - I've never watched the whole 'death scene' in 'Fields of Fire'(g) - so the revelation in episode 4 is unnerving! Two more episodes to go, so I imagine we'll know soon..

4 October 1998
Sound clips from 'Sub Judice' now up! And here's what Channel 4 has to say about the next episode, 'Mea Culpa':

In tonight's fourth episode the squad are called to a catholic school where teenager Gary (ROBERT STUART) has stabbed his priest. They suspect vampire involvement, but Michael protests he's uncovering evidence of a paedophile ring. Gary is taken into hospital when he becomes the victim of a dog attack and Angie takes some samples. Michael and Vaughan trace the dog owner, Colin (RUPERT PROCTER), who is a known paedophile and he confirms the existence of a ring. One member, Oliver (JEREMY GILLEY) has an allergy to the sun and when the squad track him down they shoot him and a vampire escapes...

Also, I've created an 'Archive' for this Updates section, and moved several months worth of entries there to make this page load faster. It was getting rather bulky!

3 October 1998: Ultraviolet Update
Just added, synopsis, review and photos from this week's episode of Ultraviolet, 'Sub Judice'. Sound clips coming soon!

29 September 1998: Ultraviolet Update
Along with a detailed plot synopis and review, we've added all new photos and sound clips from the second episode of 'Ultraviolet', 'In Nomine Patris'! This is getting better and better all the time, and is sure to be one of Philip's most intriguing roles.

And, here's what Channel 4 has to say about the third episode:

In tonight's third episode, a barrister, Marion is attacked but a mysterious protector kills her assailants and the squad suspect it was a vampire. Michael, investigating, finds that Marion's husband committed suicide but when he orders the body to be exhumed, the grave is empty - Anthony is Marion's guardian vampire. And as the squad dig deeper into the couple's past, they find out Marion was undergoing IVF treatment prior to her husband's 'death' as the couple tried for a baby.

Now, she is pregnant. Pearse, sensing vampire intervention, tries to take her into a secure clinic but she escapes the squad's clutches. Angie sets off in pursuit but Marion has turned to the Pro-life organisation where she undergoes a miscarriage. Anthony is at her side as she lies dying and Angie comes across the pair - he tells her that he only wanted to give Marion the one thing she craved - a child but, unmoved, Angie has no choice but to terminate him.

19 September 1998: Ultraviolet Update
Next Episode: "In Nomine Patris"
Channel 4's listing:

In tonight's second episode, a biker Neil attacks a blacked-out Mercedes in the aftermath of a road rage incident. The car accelerates off, crushing the motorcyclist's girlfriend Sal, as it speeds away. She's left paralysed. The squad suspects that the car's driver was a vampire and they trace the owner to Lester Hammond son of wealthy financier.

19 September 1998
And still more 'Utraviolet'! Two new sound clips, and four new pictures have been added to the 'Habeas Corpus' Episode Guide and the Gallery!

16 September 1998
Are you ready for more 'Ultraviolet'?? The 'Habeas Corpus' episode page has been updated to include more photos, and several brand new sound clips from the show!

15 September 1998
Wow!! Working long into the night, Angela has provided us with some terrific screen captures from the premiere episode of 'Ultraviolet', along with a synopsis of the show! Each episode will have its own page, and you can read all about 'Habeas Corpus' right here! More images will be added to the Gallery very soon - if I don't get to bed here now though, I'll be falling asleep at work tomorrow (and folks will supsect I'm a vampire!;) Enjoy, and give a big thanks to Angela for all her hard work!!

15 September 1998
Today's the day our friends in the UK will be watching 'Ultraviolet'! (Lucky blokes!) Let's hope it's all we've anticipated! In the meantime, I've added another article about the series, which can be found on the Ultraviolet Articles page. Not much doubt in my mind now Philip is playing a vampire!

14 September 1998
There's an extra special treat this time - our first look at Philip in scenes from 'Ultraviolet' from the promotional trailer currently airing in the UK, and a first 'listen' as well! From the look of these screen captures, Philip's character in this is going to make Javert look like a jolly soul indeed! You'll find all the links on the 'Ultraviolet' page!

9 September 1998
Just added five new images from Around the World in 80 Ways - more of Philip's many 'faces' from this romp!

Because it appears he will be in the first episode of 'Ultraviolet' (too good to hope for!) , and material is beginning to appear in the UK press about the series, I've set up a new section just for 'Ultraviolet' articles. From the latest, it certainly sounds like Eithne is right and he's going to be a vampire! Whoa..........!

6 September 1998
The latest info on 'Ultraviolet'(Crossing the Line) from the Channel 4 web page is intriguing:

Tuesday nights at 10pm - Ultraviolet is a new six-part thriller with a horror twist, exploring current paranoias - viral infection, genetic engineering, paedophilia - and age-old fears. For centuries vampires have coexisted in harmony with us, but with the advent of CJD, AIDS and global warming, mankind is perfecting the ability to destroy itself and vampires need to take control of their food source...

Wow! Anyone care to hazard a guess whether Philip is or is going to become a vampire in this??? Wouldn't that be something!

Did someone say 'More sound clips!'? They're here! There are three new sound clips from 'The Hunting of the Snark', two from Playschool songs, and a snippet of one of Philip's 'bush ballads' from an interview. Enjoy!

5 September 1998
There are now two reviews of 'Around the World in 80 Ways' written just for the Continuum. See what Philip was up to in this early film.

Hope everyone here in the States has a great Labor Day weekend!

1 September 1998
Finally, a section on Around the World in 80 Ways! One of Philip's more light-hearted roles, perfect for summer viewing. Photos and sound clips.

30 August 1998
More musical clips have been added! There is one new clip from Les Miserables, two new clips from The Fix, and last but not least, two sound clips from The Hunting of the Snark. Enjoy!

23 August 1998
We've added six new muscial clips, four from Les Miserables, one from The Fix, and another from The Secret Garden. These are just the first of many to come, including some very exciting sound clips from Philip's movie and television appearances, so stay tuned! Many thanks to Angela Pollard for all her hard work in creating these!

12 August 1998
The 'Crossing the Line' series has had a change of names, and will now air under the title 'Ultraviolet'. Angela Pollard, one of our tireless UK correspondents, has come through again with a new picture of the cast, that includes a bit more info about the series! You'll find the link here.

6 August 1998
Southern California fans: mark your calendars! The Hey, Mr. Producer concert will be aired on KCET channel 28 (the Los Angeles PBS affiliate) on Wednesday, August 12, 1998 at 8:00 p.m.! Everyone else, be sure to check your local PBS listings, because air dates seem to be different in various areas. Most of the PBS stations have searchable websites; if a search for Hey Mr. Producer doesn't turn up anything, try using Cameron Mackintosh. That's how I found it. Happy viewing!

8 July 1998
An updated section on Troilus & Cressida includes production and cast credits, as well as several images.

28 June 1998
The Secret Garden section has been refurbished and updated to include to some new reviews and some wonderful new photos. Most of the photos were supplied by Carol Purkiss - many thanks Carol!

Also courtesy of Carol, a striking image from MacBeth. Check the 'Stage' section under MacBeth!

12 June 1998
Sixteen brand new images have been added from 'The Damnation of Harvey McHugh'. You can start on the main Harvey page, or go straight to the Galleries: page 1, and page 2.

11 June 1998
Angela Pollard and Carol Purkiss have generously provided photos and reviews of the concert for Cameron Mackintosh, 'Hey Mr. Producer!' For all of us who couldn't be there, here's a glimpse of the night's excitement!

4 June 1998
Info and exclusive (gorgeous!) photo added from Crossing the Line, Philip's new UK television series to air later in 1998! Both were provided by Angela Pollard - many thanks Angela!!

3 June 1998
A note about the guestbook, greeting cards and Forum: the guys at Bravenet are doing major overhauls, and emailed everyone to let them know the pages will be up and down for the next few days. Not to worry! They assure us everything will be back up and running very soon!

25 May 1998
There's a whole new look to the Continuum's front page!

23 May 1998
Added a new review of The Fix to the reviews page. This first appeared in the papers of the Stage Musical Appreciation Society (information on joining can be found on the Net Resources page) and seems almost prophetic in retrospect as reviewer David Thomas was even then speculating about an Olivier for Philip. How right he was!

There is a new photo from The Fix on the main 'Fix' page, at the bottom of the list of images.

21 May 1998
Carole in the UK sent this along from their TV Guide:
"Crossing The Line": Jack Davenport's first major TV role since This Life puts him against trickier adversaries than feisty female Scottish barristers. This time he's fighting vampires in a six-part Channel 4 drama. Crossing the Line (to be seen later this year), in which he plays a detective recruited to wipe out a gang of ninties bloodsuckers. Susannah Harker provides the love interest.

Sounds exciting! Thanks Carole! Keep us posted!

27 April 1998
Tickets for the 'Hey Mr. Producer' concert: Net-Tix has available an allocation of ten tickets (YES ONLY 10) to the 'Hey Mr Producer' concert. They are £260 pounds each (inclusive booking fees) and are the premium reserve seats. (260 British Pounds is equivalent to 433.18 American Dollars) Net-Tix can be reached at: tickets@net-tix.com

24 April 1998
As everyone no doubt knows by now, Philip will be appearing in the 'Hey Mr. Producer' concert featuring staged highlights of Cameron Mackintosh's career. The concert will take place at the Lyceum Theatre in London on June 8, 1998. From what I've heard, tickets are extremely pricey, but some at a more reasonable cost may be available. For those interested, the booking office can be reached at 0171 656 1818.

By request, and because there appears to be a need for such a place, I've set up the Philip Quast Web Forum! You'll find the icon on the front page. Have fun, and play nice!;)

4 April 1998
At last! Photos of Philip receiving his 1998 Olivier Award for Best Actor in a Musical. Many thanks to Jeannine Hochet for providing the video of the awards!

We've also added a new photo section from the UK television series The Govenor.

Some big 'Thank you's!' are in order this time. To Jeannine Hochet, for providing the excellent video of the Olivier Awards all the way from Jersey (that's the UK Jersey, not the US Jersey!), and to Elaine Holderness and Sandi Ahara for getting it converted to NTSC. More thanks to Elaine and Sandi for tracking down The Governor, sitting through hours of video searching for Philip's scenes, then compiling them on one neat tape! And, as always, many thanks to Michelle Zeman for taking it all and making the wonderful screen captures! You guys are fantastic!

12 March 1998
Added a review of Hunting of the Snark, reprinted here from Mike Gibb's 'Masquerade' magazine.

10 March 1998
Added a new 'gallery' of pictures, these from Police Rescue.

Have posted the address for Philip's agent (where letters can be sent) at the top, as many folks have written to ask where to write to him. I realized the info wasn't doing much good, buried at the bottom of the Updates section!(g)

20 February 1998
For the past several days, there have been intermitent problems with the Bravenet server that provides our Guestbook and Greeting Card services. For a while, the Bravenet page itself seemed to have disappeared! All appears to have been restored now, so let's hope for the best.

17 February 1998
Filming on the television series has begun, but Philip thinks it probably won't begin airing until Fall. This should give fans in the UK time to stock up on videotapes!(g)

16 February 1998
He won! Philip has picked up his second Olivier Award - Best Actor in a Musical - for his performance as Grahame Chandler in The Fix No surprise probably to those who have seen it, as he walked away with the show! I know we are all thrilled for him, and extend congratulations for a well-deserved honor!

8 February 1998
For those who visit both my Javert page and the Continuum: the 10th Anniversary Concert gallery has been moved to this page, and the Javert page is now strictly a fanfic site. The TAC galleries can be accessed from the Stage or Video & Film sections, under Les Misérables.

Don't forget: just 7 more days before the winners of the Oliviers are announced!

1 February 1998
Added a review of The Fix CD by Mike Gibb, reprinted here from his excellent 'Masquerade' magazine.

16 January 1998
Philip has just signed a contract to appear in a new TV series on Channel 4 in the UK! The series is as yet un-named but could be on air as soon as late March. It will also feature an actor called Jack Davenport who is known in the UK for playing Miles in the cult TV series This Life. More info as it becomes available - stay tuned!

15 January 1998
It's official! Philip has been nominated for his second Olivier award! The Awards are slated for February 16th, and will be televised on the BBC February 23rd. I know we'll all be holding our breath in anticipation that day! Congratulations, Philip!

11 January 1998
If you look above, you'll find the latest addition to the Continuum. Now you can send a customized Philip Quast greeting card for those speical occasions, or 'just because!'

10 January 1998
Playbill Online (go to 'News', then International news) is reporting there's a possibility Philip may be nominated for an Olivier for his role in The Fix. Let's all keep our fingers crossed!

Added images from 'Fields of Fire' and 'Cassidy'.

3 January 1998
Added several rehearsal photos from 'Sunday in the Park With George'.

2 January 1998
Happy New Year everyone! To get things off to a bright start, I've restructured the 'Harvey McHugh' and 'Playschool' sections. The 'Harvey' page doesn't look any different, but there's now a link to the 'Harvey Gallery', for those who can't get enough of the Minister.

The Playschool page has changed quite a bit. An interesting article about the series has been added, and a link to - you guessed it - a Playschool Gallery of delightful images.

Last, but not least, a new article has been added to the Articles & Interviews section. The date of this is unknown, but it appeared in the Sunday Telegraph during Philip's performance in The Secret Garden (Australia), and includes two new photos. (Article and images courtesy of Leanne Shawler - many thanks Leanne!)

21 December 1997
Added Philip's current publicity shot - it's wonderful! Click on the image to view the picture full size.

13 December 1997
I am very pleased to announce that Mr. Quast has granted the Continuum official status as his authorized web page. When I first undertook this page back in March, I never imagined this would happen; my objective then, and now, was to provide a source of information for his many fans, to share my enjoyment of his work, and to do so in a tasteful and respectful manner that would always be a positive reflection on Philip. If I've succeeded, it's only been with the support and encouragement of generous people like Doug Mayo. So, thank you, Doug. And, a very humble 'Thank you, Philip', for according me this privilege.

Additionally this time, there are some new photos of Philip from The Fix. Two are from what, in my opinion, is the most riveting sequence in the play, Philip's performance during 'First Came Mercy'.
